Geoeconomics: The rise of the BRICS in the new world order

The BRICS group, originally made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, was created with the aim of increasing the influence of emerging economies on the global stage and positioning themselves as a counterweight to the Western powers, represented mainly by the G7. The current competition between the Global South and the Global North can be best explained by geoeconomics: the use of a country’s economic power to exert influence over others.
